The Mautic Update

Every year I stand up at our conference and give an account of where Mautic is. This year that account feels more important than most.

I will look back at what our community has shipped over the past twelve months, what we have learned along the way, and what it has actually taken to keep an independent open source project standing. I will be talking candid ly and transparently about our funding and our sustainability, because a project stewarded by its community is only as resilient as the people and organisations willing to hold it up.

We will also look outward. More organisations are questioning what it really costs to hand their marketing data to someone else, and Mautic sits at the heart of that conversation. I will share where I think our opportunity lies, and what we need to build to meet it.

Then we look forward, to the roadmap and the priorities I would like us to focus on together over the coming year.

Whether you use Mautic, build with it, or contribute to it, come and hear where we are heading, and find me afterwards to chat about anything you think we have missed.

Can You Mautic a Country?

A real-world case study covering the technical and organizational evolution of Mautic inside one of Europe's fastest-growing political movements.

The session will cover the architecture and workflows behind audience management, segmentation, supporter communication and the organization of local TISZA Island communities; the advantages and challenges of using open-source infrastructure; data ownership and avoiding per-contact licensing; scaling under extremely rapid growth; and the limits we encountered when stretching Mautic beyond traditional marketing automation.

I'll also discuss how the experience influenced later digital tools created for the movement and what Mautic developers, agencies and large organizations can learn from the project.

This won't be a political presentation. It will be an inside technical story about what happens when Mautic becomes mission-critical organizational infrastructure.

The Retention Gap - Why your retention strategy isn't retaining customers

Most brands don’t have a retention strategy, they have a collection of retention tactics - a welcome campaign, a loyalty segment, a win-back flow, each built at a different time to answer a different question, and never introduced to each other.
Retention isn’t the next automation to build, it’s what a genuinely connected customer journey produces, decision by decision.
Using eFocus Marketing’s Customer Drift™ and Customer Momentum™ frameworks, Kate will walk through the four ways relationships quietly weaken long before they show up as churn, and the five deliberate decisions that keep momentum building instead.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
▸ The four early-warning signs a segment is drifting, long before it shows up as a churn number, Attention, Behaviour, Relevance, Value.
▸ Why more automation often makes disconnected tactics worse, not better, and what to check before building another flow.
▸ Three practical moves to run this month, using data and journeys most Mautic users already have live.
WHY THIS TOPIC, WHY NOW
Acquisition cost rose 16.1% in a year (Shopify, 2026 Global Commerce Report), while Bain & Company’s long-standing finding still holds: a 5% improvement in retention lifts profit by 25–95%. Every team in the room is already feeling the acquisition side of that squeeze. This session gives a concrete, evidenced way to act on the retention side.

Your Email Is Judged Before It Is Read

Marketing automation often treats sending as the final step: the segment is selected, the campaign is built, the email is approved, and Mautic sends.

But the inbox has already made several decisions before the reader sees anything. Mailbox providers ask two basic questions before delivery: is this message safe, and is it wanted? Authentication, reputation, links, list quality, sending behaviour and audience response all feed into those questions.

That changes how Mautic teams should think about email. SPF, DKIM and DMARC are not technical housekeeping. Domain alignment is not a detail. Reputation is not a single dashboard score. Open rate can be a deliverability signal before it is an engagement signal. A hacked website, poor list acquisition or a sudden sending spike can damage inbox placement even when the email content itself is fine.

This talk translates modern inbox trust into practical Mautic work.

It will cover:
- why “the email was sent” does not mean “the email had a fair chance”
- how SPF, DKIM and DMARC work together, and where teams commonly misunderstand them
- what DMARCbis is trying to improve and why it matters for senders
- why authentication, alignment and reputation are related but not the same thing
- why open rates should be read carefully as deliverability signals
- what Mautic admins should check before launching important campaigns
- what agencies should standardize across client setups
- where Mautic could make sender readiness more visible in the product and documentation

This is not a deep DNS workshop and not a generic deliverability checklist. It is a translation layer between marketing, infrastructure and Mautic implementation work.

Beyond Automation: From Rented Attention to Owned Revenue with Mautic - A Practical Playbook for Building a Compounding Growth Engine

A practical, implementation-focused session showing how Mautic can move beyond campaign automation and become the orchestration layer between paid acquisition and revenue. We will map the journey from traffic → first-party audience → segmentation → nurture → intent → conversion → attribution, with Mautic's role clearly demonstrated at each stage. Expect real-world examples, practical workflows, and lessons learned—not generic automation theory.
